LONDON — The husband of a British-Iranianis urging Britain’s overseas secretary to publicly appropriate an announcement about his spouse, saying the remarks prompted authorities in Tehran to threaten to double her jail sentence.

British Overseas Secretary Boris Johnson advised lawmakers final week that Zaghari-Ratcliffe was “merely educating folks journalism” when she was detained final 12 months. Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s household and her employer, the Thomson Reuters Basis, insist she was merely visiting her household.

The assertion stated Johnson “made clear” that when he spoke to the lawmakers final week, “the purpose he had been in search of to make… was that he condemned the Iranian view that coaching journalists was a criminal offense, not that he believed Iranian allegations that Mrs Zaghari Ratcliffe had been engaged in such exercise.”
