Germany police in Hambach historical forest to guard RWE coal mine employees amid environmentalist protests

BERLIN — German information company dpa is reporting that lots of of police have entered a forest that protesters are attempting to cease from being chopped down for a coal mine. The company reported that police are defending employees from vitality firm RWE who plan to start out clearing obstacles from the ground of Hambach forest Wednesday.

RWE needs to chop down half of the traditional forest to develop a close-by lignite strip mine.

The plans have enraged environmentalists, who need Germany to cease extracting and burning coal. Some have been tenting within the forest for years in protest.

Police within the western metropolis of Aachen stated on Twitter officers would even be trying to find “objects that may very well be used to organize or perform crimes or that might be appropriate for the development of barricades.”
