JOHANNESBURG — Olympian Oscar Pistorius,, was bruised in an altercation with one other inmate over phone use, a South African jail spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
Pistorius sustained a minor damage in an alleged assault on the Attridgevill Correctional Centre final week, Singabakho Nxumalo of the Division of Correctional Providers advised The Related Press. Pistorius had a medical checkup and was discovered to have a bruise, stated Nxumalo, who added that the incident is being investigated.
“The damage is minor however we on the division take incidents like this severely and wish to forestall any altercations,” stated Nxumalo.
The disagreement broke out between Pistorius and one other inmate over use of a public phone, he stated.
Pistorius, a double amputee runner who received worldwide acclaim successful within the Paralympics and competing within the Olympics, is serving a 13-year sentence for the homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius shot her lifeless in his house on Valentine’s Day 2013 and claimed he thought she was an intruder.
