JERUSALEM — A senior US. official has appealed to Center East leaders to calm tensions within the area following the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, which has drawn criticism and sparked unrest throughout the area.

In a briefing with Arab journalists Sunday, Appearing Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield stated that President Donald Trump’s pronouncement final week was a “recognition of straightforward actuality” and never meant to prejudge final-status negotiations in regards to the metropolis’s remaining borders.
