The U.S. navy says an American service member was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday afternoon.
The U.S. command in Afghanistan stated the service member died of accidents sustained throughout an operation in Logar province within the japanese a part of the nation. The navy did not launch the service member’s id or any particulars concerning the circumstances of the loss of life.
“On behalf of U.S. Forces – Afghanistan, we provide our deepest condolences to the household of our fallen brother,” stated Gen. John Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces within the nation. “Regardless of this tragic occasion, we stay steadfast in our dedication to the Afghan individuals and to assist them in our mutual struggle towards terrorism.”
The fatality is the second current loss of life of a U.S. service member in Logar province. Jacob M. Sims, a 36-year-old chief warrant officer from Juneau, Alaska, was. Six different service members have been injured within the assault, which the Pentagon stated was not attributable to enemy fireplace.
